Maryland Brown Swiss Invitational Full of Quality

Frederick, MD. – The Maryland Brown Swiss Invitational was yet another success as exhibitors from 6 states paraded their high-quality Brown Swiss through the ring on Saturday, August 2nd at the fairgrounds in Frederick, MD. Judge Ronnie Heffner of Middletown, MD, congratulated the breeders and the Maryland Brown Swiss Association for putting on such a quality show. "You will see several of these top animals go on and do well at the big Fall Shows," he said. Judge Heffner placed 80 head for the 2014 show.

The Invitational began on Friday evening with the showmanship division. Judge Heffner selected the top showman for the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Divisions then selected an overall showman. Justin Butcher, Keaneysville, WV was the winner of the Junior Division, Joseph Hubbard, Thurmont, MD took the top prize in the Intermediate division and Nicole Hood, Middletown, MD was named the top showman in the Senior division and also took the prize for the overall showman.

The show continued on Saturday with the type classes. Judge Heffner selected  RAD-ICAL CP Roulette ET, the winning Spring Calf owned by Lindsey Rucks of Okeechobee, FL, as Junior Champion. Reserve Junior Champion was the winning Spring Yearling, RAD-ICAL A Good One ETV, also owned by Lindsey Rucks. Junior Champion of the Junior Show was Hoodstead Tbark Peanut ETV, the winning Fall Calf owned by Nicole Hood. Nicole also took Reserve Junior Champion honors with her winning Winter Yearling heifer, Hoodstead Total Promise ET.

Topping off the show was the selection of the Senior and Grand Champion awards. Jeremy McDonald of Stephens City, VA, took top honors with his winning 4 Year Old Cow, Siegerts Jetway Sable ET receiving Senior and Grand Champion. His winning Component Merit Cow, Shen-Val Jade T Natasha was selected as the Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion animal. Topping the Junior Show was Dublin-Hills Pristina, the winning Junior 2 Year Old Cow, owned by Alex Beard of Mt. Airy, MD. Following with the Reserve Senior and Grand Champion selection was Top Acres Garbo Winner, the winning Senior 2 Year Old Cow owned by Jonathan Hubbard of Thurmont, MD.
