World Ayrshire Conference - Ullmster Dairy and Grand-View Ayrshires

Farm tours continued for the World Ayrshire Conference on October 3rd as the morning brought a stop to Ullmstar Dairy owned by Damian and Kiley Ullmer, Seymour, WI. Milking 100 cows with 25 Ayrshires and 75 Holsteins, the Ayrshires producing a RHA of 21,000 lbs. of milk. Highlights of the herd include Don-Haven BBBK Tipsy EX-92 who is no stranger to the show ring being the Unanimous All-American Jr. 2 Yr. Old 2012 and Reserve Intermediate Champion at World Dairy Expo 2012. Tipsy has daughters who have been nominated for All-American honors. Another special cow, not on the farm during the tour, but at the World Dairy Expo, was Onward Lazy-M Distinct Arrow VG-87 @2Y. She will show as a Jr. 2 Yr. Old and was 1st Jr. 2 Yr. Old at the Wisconsin State Show and Minnesota State Fair in 2016 as well as HN Intermediate Champion at both state fairs. Arrow was nominated All-American Summer Yearling in 2015.     After a stop at Doc’s Harley Davidson to view some beautiful bikes it was off to the second farm stop of the day, Grand-View Ayrshires owned by Tim and Katie Bush, Cecil, Wisconsin. This 45 cow one hundred percent Ayrshire herd earns a RHA of 19,600 lbs. of milk. Herd notable Grand-View BBBK Dreamer EX-94 and 2016 Wisconsin Cow of the Year was not at the farm and had made the trip to World Dairy Expo to be shown in the 100,000 lb. cow class on Friday. Dreamer has 6 EX daughters and 25 registered daughters in the U.S. with daughter also in Canada, Finland, Scotland, U.K. and Ireland. Another herd favorite is Grand-View Sumtotal Divot EX-94 3E, she was the Total Performance winner at the 2015 World Dairy Expo, HM All-American 100,000 lb. Cow 2015 and Reserve Grand Champion at NAILE in 2011. Grand-View Ayrshires uses IVF and conventional flushing to fill domestic and international embryo orders and sold 50 embryos last year.
