Farm Center Helping Producers Dealing with Financial Stress

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture's Farm Center is co-sponsoring a series of workshops to help agricultural professionals who work with farmers dealing with tight margins and the subsequent stress it may cause. The 'Coaching Your Clients Through This Rough Patch' series is designed to provide strategies for working with stressed producers and to share resources available to farm families.

The workshops will be offered on the following dates and locations:

** October 24: Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center, Tomah

** October 25: Chippewa County Courthouse, Chippewa Falls

** October 26: Liberty Hall Banquet and Conference Center, Kimberly

** October 27: Olympia Resort Conference Center, Oconomowoc

** October 28: Iowa County UW-Extension Office, Dodgeville

"The Farm Center's team of agricultural economic development consultants help all types of Wisconsin farmers deal with the critical economic, business and social needs of farm families," said Farm Center Director Kathy Schmitt. "Services provided include financial and business consultation, farm succession planning, conflict mediation, production challenges and other assistance."

The series of workshops is co-sponsored by the University of Wisconsin's Center for Dairy Profitability, UW-Extension's FARM Team, and DATCP's Farm Center.
