Seneca Falls, NY. Along with the
popular forage chopping, merging, hay and tillage demonstrations, the working
equipment field demos at the August 7-9, 2018 Empire Farm Days at Rodman Lott
and Son Farms in Seneca Falls, NY, are adding manure application methods that
reduce odor and runoff and retain nutrient value.
Proper management of
manure resources can return in big ways for today's farmers. The new
demonstration at Empire Fram Days will show how to apply the latest technology
and tools to work manure into soil or surface apply and retain valuable
nutrients to feed crops. The techniques can also reduce runoff losses and soil
disturbance and help farmers meet environmental stewardship goals.
The side-by-side
demonstrations by Java Farm Supply/Nuhn, Pikeside Enterprises/Bazooka Farmstar
and Bauer for a Green World, Pik Rite, Hainsworth/Dry Hill Manufacturing and
Zimmerman Manufacturing/Red Viper will include dribble bars, a grassland tool,
disks, and shanks.
A Field Demos-dedicated
tram is available to carry visitors from the Northeast corner of the
showgrounds to the field demo area. The daily schedule of working farm
equipment demonstrations includes:
10:30 am: Hay mowing
11:30 am: Hay merging
and chopping
12:30 pm: Tillage and
GPS
1:30 pm: Hay raking,
baling and handling
2:30 pm: Manure
injection and application.

Farm Credit East
sponsors the Field Demos at Empire Farm Days. Also new this year at the Field
Demonstrations area is a refreshment area sponsored by NK, Syngenta, and Enogen
Feed.
Empire Farm Days is
excited to work with Morrisville State College staff to organize and execute
the field demonstrations in cooperation with Rodman Lott and Son Farms.
Empire Farm Days has
partnered with Cuff Farm Services, Kifco, Goulds Water Technology and Xylem
Applied Water Systems to provide irrigation to the field demonstration site
crops.
Daily at 10 am, 12 pm,
and 2 pm, the Falcon Automated Soil Sampler will be working in the tillage
field demo area. The equipment collects, georeferences, time-dates and barcodes
samples every 15 feet. Cameras will broadcast to tv monitors at the field edge
and results from earlier sampling of grids at the showgrounds will be
available. This demonstration is sponsored by the New York State Agribusiness
Association, Growmark FS of Caledonia, Agrinetix of Rochester, and Empire Farm
Days.
Ongoing demonstrations
each day include quadcopter drone demonstrations by CNY Droneworks at Lot 507
and Bugnot Rock and Stone Grinder and Forestry Mulcher demonstrations at Lot
901.
Five markers of large
applicators: Java Farm Supply/Ag Chem Rogator, Monroe Tractor/Case IH,
Chandler, Miller, and Vector will provide opportunities to test drive their
field units from 10 am to 2 pm daily at the show.
Trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and utility vehicles are also
available for Ride and Drive at this show from 10 am to 2 pm daily with Ford
Trucks, Honda, Milton CAT, RAM Trucks, and Yanmar UTVs.
Empire Farm Days show
hours are 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday;
