The Indiana Holstein Association gathered for their annual meeting in Indianapolis on Saturday, January 26th. The annual event is held each year to discuss business of the association and hand out hardware to their honorees.
The Indiana Master Breeder Award went to Richard Thomas of Middlebury while the Honorary Lifetime Member award was given to Ray Becker. Receiving the Derek Blough Heart and Soul award was Jodi Jones of Marshall. Derek Blough was a dedicated member of the Indiana Holstein Association who was in a fatal truck accident several years ago.
President Todd Jones of Marshall, presided over the events of the day as elections were held for Districts IV, V, VI and two At Large positions. Duane Hill, Fountain City, was elected for the District IV position, Liz Kelsay of Whiteland, was elected to the District V position, Linda Finke of Hope was elected to District VI position while the two At Large positions were filled by Ron Fuhrmann of Hoagland and Dru Mercer of Bryant.
Sabra Jackson of Frankfort, was crowned the Indiana Holstein Princess while the Hoosier Holstein Scholarship winner was Annie Achen of Ambia.
Cindy and Al Kuehnert going over the details of the upcoming National Holstein Convention.
Al and Cindy Kuehnert of Ft. Wayne discussed details of the marquee event of the Indiana Holstein Association; hosting of the National Holstein Convention to be held in Indianapolis on July 8-11, 2013.
As chair of the event, the Kuehnerts discussed the pre-convention tours that will take place and also announced that the convention sale cattle will be housed in the convention center which is accessible from a walk way from the hotel. They also highlighted some of the junior activities planned for the convention.
It was announced that the Indiana State Show will be in Richmond, Indiana at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. The Junior show will be Saturday, June 15 while the Open show will be Monday, June 17th.
